(1)强度高,重量轻。复合绝缘子的强度重量比很高,即比强度很高。其高机械强度源于玻璃钢芯棒优异的机械性能,目前被大量采用的玻璃钢引拔棒的拉伸强度可达1000MPa以上,而芯棒密度仅为2g/cm3左右,因此其比强度很高,约为优质碳素钢的5~10倍。在相同电压等级下,复合绝缘子的重量仅为瓷绝缘子的1/7~1/10。
